Monterey College of Law was the first California Accredited Law School to be approved to offer a 36-unit Master of Legal Studies (MLS) degree in addition to our traditional 90-unit J.D. degree. The MLS degree program provides a graduate school curriculum for individuals who wish to undertake the serious study of law, but have no interest in being licensed to practice law. As a masters-level graduate degree, the two-year MLS can serve to enhance careers in professions such as banking, finance, real estate, public safety, human resources, and family-owned businesses. It is frequently characterized as a law-related version of an “MBA”.
