As we navigate the situation with the COVID 19 pandemic, all in-person workshops have been temporarily discontinued and transitioned to telephone appointments. You may also schedule your appointment by calling 831-582-3600.

The eviction (unlawful detainer) workshop is open to both landlords and tenants and is held on Thursdays from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm and requires a $15 fee. After briefly discussing your case with a law student, under the supervision of a supervising attorney, the law student will explain the eviction process, and how to prepare a complaint for eviction if you are a landlord, or how to prepare an answer to the eviction if you are a tenant.

Please check the dates below for upcoming available workshop dates. In order to reserve your seat, we must receive payment as spots fill up quickly.

NOTE: If you’ve been served with an unlawful detainer (eviction) complaint, you only have five calendar days to answer the complaint else a default judgment can be entered against you. Do not make an appointment for a workshop unless you have at least 48 hours before your time expires. As the eviction workshop is only held on Thursday’s, if you are unable to attend the eviction workshop before the five calendar days expires, we recommend going to with the Clerk’s Office or the Self-Help Center at the Monterey Superior Court House in an attempt to get help. Please note that workshop services relating to evictions occur only on Thursdays at 4:00pm.
Any questions or assistance sought outside of those hours cannot be accommodated.
