All clinic appointments are by telephone or zoom, only. You may also schedule your
appointment by calling 831-582-3600
The eviction (unlawful detainer) clinic is open to both landlords and tenants and
is held on Tuesdays from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm and requires a $15 fee. After briefly discussing your case with a law student, under the supervision of a
supervising attorney, the law student will explain the eviction process, and how to
prepare a complaint for eviction if you are a landlord, or how to prepare an answer
to the eviction if you are a tenant.
Please check the dates below for upcoming available clinic dates. In order to reserve your seat, we must receive payment as spots fill up quickly.
If you have been served with an unlawful detainer (eviction) complaint, you only have
five days to answer the complaint (not counting Saturdays, Sundays, or judicial holidays).
If you do not answer the complaint within this time frame, a default judgment can
be entered against you. Do not make an appointment for this clinic unless the clinic
appointment will fall at least 48 hours before your time expires. If you need more
urgent assistance, we recommend going to the Self-Help Center at the Monterey Superior
Court, 1200 Aguajito Road, in Monterey. We are unable to hold appointments outside
of our clinic hours.
Please note that clinic services relating to evictions occur only on Tuesdays at 4:00pm.
Any questions or assistance sought outside of those hours cannot be accommodated.
