MGC logo in white

The Mandell Gisnet Center for Conflict Management (MGC) was created in 2005 by a bequest to Monterey College of Law, a 501(c)(3), and provides education, training, and conflict resolution services to Monterey County. Monterey College of Law students, community members, and local attorneys serve as mediators in MGC’s programs.

MGC provides mediation services at no or low cost for various cases filed in the Monterey County Superior Court:

  • For Small Claims cases: Please contact us at courtadr@mandellgisnetcenter.org or leave a message at (831) 582-5234. Include your case number in your email or message. We will contact you for a brief intake and connect you with one of our mediators.

If your Small Claims case trial date is within the next few weeks, proceed to your court date and a mediator will be available to assist you there.

  • For Unlawful Detainer (eviction) cases: A mediator will be available in court on the day of trial to assist you.
  • For civil cases referred by the court directly to Mandell Gisnet Center: We will contact you with an assignment to a mediator from the court’s panel of attorney mediators. Each party must pay a $275 administrative fee that covers program expenses.
  • Please note that the Mandell Gisnet Center does not offer divorce mediation or mediation for Family Court cases. If you are trying to reach the Family Court mediators, please go to the Monterey County Superior Court’s website.
