In Court Mediation
The Mandell Gisnet Center for Conflict Mangement works in partnership with the Superior Court of Monterey County and the Monterey County Bar to provide mediation services in court for the Unlawful Detainer, Trial De Novo, and Small Claims calendars. Mediation is a form of alternative dispute resolution in which a neutral third person helps the parties reach a voluntary resolution of a dispute. Mediation is an informal, confidential, and flexible process in which the mediator helps the parties to understand the interests of everyone involved, and their practical and legal choices. Court mediation programs have been shown to save the parties time and money, improve satisfaction with the court’s services and reduce future disputes and offenses.
Our mediators volunteer their time and expertise to assist parties resolve their dispute prior to the formal court trial. There are many reasons why you may want to consider mediating your case. Mediation does not prevent you from seeing the judge and having your matter heard at trial, rather it is a pre-trial opportunity that may result in a settlement.
